Akihabara can be a great place to purchase some souvenirs you won't find back home. We run you through some stores that are great for just that.

In Akihabara there are plenty of great shops for tourists to buy souvenirs.

So that you can make the most of your time in Japan, we here at Matcha have compiled a list of 7 shops for all your souvenir shopping needs!

1. Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba

Yodabashi Camera is one of the most popular electronics retailers in Japan. The best part is that it is a one-minute walk from Akihabara station, the building is huge and everything is clearly categorized. If you're looking for something, you can definitely find it here.

2. Akihabara Gamers Honten

For those of you looking for anime or voice actor goods, we highly recommend Akihabara Gamers. It specialises in bishōjo anime and voice actor products, and there are many exclusive products that you can only find here. 5. Volks Akihabara Hobby Heaven

The building lit up in this photo is Volks Akihabara Hobby Heaven. As the name suggests, this shop is a paradise for finding all the toys you ever need all in one spot. It would not be a stretch to say that this is the best place to find hobby items in all of Akihabara. If you feel the need to be immersed in a world of toys, this is the place for you. It goes without saying that it is also excellent for buying souvenirs.

6. Akihabara Radio Hall

If you head out of the Akihabara Station Electric Town Exit, the first building you see is the Akihabara Radio Hall.

The building has been open for over 60 years, and re-opened after renovation in 2014. On the first floor of the building is Gift Shop The AkiBa, where you can purchase souvenirs after shopping in the 10 floors and basement level. The Akihabara Radio Hall is very popular with tourists, so why not take a step inside?

7. Don Quijote Akihabara

Don Quijote Akihabara is a discount jumble store filled with every product you could possibly imagine. One of the reasons Don Quijote is so popular is that its products are so cheap.

There is a tax counter on the 5th floor, where they also have customer support in English. If you're having trouble finding something, why not give Don Quijote a shot?
