Throughout the world, many Japanese cakes and desserts have become famous not only for their delicious taste but enticing appearance. A popular spot where you can indulge in famed Japanese sweets is at the Bitter Sweets Buffet Lumine EST Shinjuku Branch located inside the fashion mall conveniently connected to Shinjuku Station. In this buffet-style restaurant, there is even a special course where a pastry chef makes a cake specially for you after you have made your order.

Well-known among dessert addicts, Bitter Sweets Buffet locations can be found in Ikebukuro and Kawasaki as well. In this article, we have focused on the Shinjuku branch to find out the charm of this particular buffet.

Gorgeous Interior Decorated with Dark Colors

The inside of the shop is decorated with dark colored furniture and is dimly lit. It is arranged with mirrors and glass boundaries, giving the restaurant a luxurious ambiance. The chandelier designed to imitate glass shattering gives it a gorgeous feel as well.

An Abundant Menu and Must Haves

From the restaurant name, you may think this buffet specializes only in sweets, but they also have a wide range of savory meals as well. While you may want to indulge in both sweet and savory dishes here, there is a time limit for your stay so it is best to know what kind of dishes they have in advance to narrow down your choices on what to eat.

Once you enter the shop, the first thing that catches your eyes is the chocolate fountain. You can dip bite size cakes and fruit in it and coat them with rich chocolate. In this area, you can also find salad and a selection of drinks.

On the opposite side of the chocolate fountain to your left is a showcase full of colorful cakes. A pastry chef carefully arranges the cakes of your choice according to your order. The strawberry shortcake, chiffon cake, mousses, and jellies all look like jewelry on display. You may have a hard time deciding what to eat, but each piece is bite sized so you can enjoy all your favorites.

Next to the showcase is the waffle and crepe area. You can savor freshly made waffles and crepes with the sauces and ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) of your choice. There are also limited time seasonal toppings to try as well.

If you continue to your right, you can find a range of savory dishes such as deli meats, pasta, grilled meats, and pizza on offer too.

The pasta is made using seasonal ingredients and ranges from Japanese to popular western flavors. The chef will cook it up on the spot for you to enjoy. The Napoli style pizza is also baked on site so if you arrive at the right time, you may be able to try some very freshly baked pizza!

In the grilled meat area, during lunch, you can make your very own burger by combining a patty with rolls and vegetables in the salad area. Also in the grilled meat area, the chef will freshly prepare steak for you after your order has been placed during dinner hours.

The best part of the Bitter Sweets Buffet is how you can mix and match meals and dessert to create your very own course meal or simply target sweets. There is usually a wait so it is best to make reservations in advance. (Shinjuku Branch +81-03-5367-1899)
