There are many famous tourist spots in Kyoto, but you might get tired after all the walking. How about taking a rest in a cafe with a great view of the Kamogawa River?

I’m sure this great cafe will lighten your sightseeing fatigue.

Panorama Kamogawa

“efish” is 5 minutes from Keihan railways Kiyomizu Gojo station. The red sign with the black cat marks the spot.

From inside the cafe, the view is like this. Almost one entire wall of efish is a window, and you can see a full view of the calmly flowing Kamo River.

The 1st floor of this cafe is like an interior shop with stylish interior, white walls, and a bare ceiling. It may feel too bare and cold, but the sunlight shining in, and the river scenery from the window makes it a strangely at-home feeling cafe.

On the 2nd floor there are stylish goods on a shelf and the layout is as if you were in a goods shop. Of course, you can see the Kamo River from the 2nd floor as well.

Menus You Should Absolutely Try!

The food and drink at efish is great. My favorite is the black sugar and walnut cake! The savory smell of black sugar and it's gentle sweetness makes a cake that you can’t have anywhere else.

I also recommend the okra and bean curry rice, and the hot broccoli, cottage cheese and walnuts salad. efish’s menu is refined, anything you order will be a dish of satisfaction. For those of you who want to see the menu, check out their official home page.

Minutely Designed with Heart

This cafe was designed by Shin Nishibori, who worked at Apple as an industrial designer for ten years. All the architecture was designed calculating and considering how much scenery will come in from the windows. All the windows of this shop are like beautiful paintings, cutting out the peaceful and heart-resting scenery.

Many items in the shop like this saucer, the ashtrays and other goods are also designed by Shin Nishibori. These cute Nishibori products can be bought in the cafe as well.

This cafe will make you want to stay forever, in the strange thought that time has stopped. To relax and forget time, go visit efish!
