ON THE MARKS: Enjoy Beer And Music At Kawasaki's New Type Of Hotel
Written by Keisuke Yamada
This article introduces you to the hotel that serves nice local craft beer and good music "ON THE MARKS Kawasaki." The hotel is located in Kawasaki, Kanagawa prefecture. You can find information about the facility in this article.
Kawasaki in Kanagawa, Japan, is famous for its famous temple Kawasaki Daishi, and its Warehouse Kawasaki arcade is a mecca for gamers. Conveniently located between Tokyo and Yokohama, Kawasaki has a huge selection of eating, dining, and shopping establishments. 6 minutes away from JR Kawasaki Station lies ON THE MARKS, a hotel which opened in September 2015 that is not only comfortable but offers a blend of music, craft beer, and smoked foods inspired by the surrounding city.
In this post, I will be talking about the three different room styles ON THE MARKS has to offer.
ON THE MARKS was a project undertaken to make a hotel out of a remodeled 22 year old building. The original ceilings and floors were left intact, while the newer, additional aspects are very stylish and Japanese in taste.
Upon entering, guests are greeted by a wall mural of an eagle wearing headphones. Why is it wearing headphones, you ask? That's because he's listening to music of course, an homage to all of the music venues and halls around Kawasaki station where a multitude of artists perform. By incorporating this musical side of the city into the hotel, ON THE MARKS offers soothing sounds for its guests to enjoy.
At first glance, the atmosphere of the restaurant makes it seem like there isn't a hostel upstairs, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The style and flair of this hostel are some of its greatest assets.
The music lounge of ON THE MARKS features vintage speakers and an analog amplifier that pump out relaxing yet cool tunes, making it the ideal place for mingling with fellow travelers. Whether you just want to sit back, chill, and listen to the music, or talk about your travel plans or experiences in Japan, look no further than Kawasaki!
In order to make the building easier to access for local passersby, the restaurant is the first thing guests see upon entering, with the hostel's front desk located in the back of the first floor. Before the front desk sit three large sofas and an expansive coffee table, the latter of which was made using 100 year old wood.
Thanks to their incredible service, visitors to Japan are sure to feel welcome here.
3 Different Room Types
ON THE MARKS features three different room types for guests of all budgets and itineraries. The "Bunk Bed" room type featured in this picture is the most reasonably priced of the three, but is much roomier than your standard hostel bed, and features more amenities and security than them, as well.
This is the "Compact Room" type, and is for guests who want more privacy and space than the bunk beds offer. Guests in these rooms share the restrooms and showers with those who stay in the bunk beds.
This is the "Standard Room" type. These rooms can fit up to 2 adults and 1 child, and have attached restrooms and showers.
Taste Quality in Kawasaki's Craft Beer Selection
ON THE MARKS pairs up with local and national craft breweries for an ever-changing selection of the finest craft beers. The restaurant is open every night from 18:00-23:30 for hostel guests and local diners to get their fill of Kawasaki beer.
From first-time visitors to Japan to those who have been here many times, adding ON THE MARKS to your list of places to visit and/or stay in Japan will surely allow you to get a taste for the vibrant local culture and history that Kawasaki has to offer.
