As winter rolls into spring, pink-colored sweets become a common sight in Japan. From February to March, cakes and confectioneries with cherry blossom motifs appear in pastry shops, one after another. This time, we introduce some cherry blossom sweets that don’t just taste great and smell fragrant, but will put you in a spring mood, as well.

First, we’ll introduce you to some sweets from a well-established Uji tea and green tea-flavored sweets shop in Kyōto, Gion Tsujiri.

This sweet treat consists of cherry blossom-flavored ice cream, topped with rich green tea baked chocolate and a smooth green-tea flavored cream. You can enjoy a springtime combination of cherry blossoms and green tea with this sweet. It is only available for takeout at the main branch in Gion, in Kyōto.
