The district around Shinsaibashi Station(心斎橋駅) is the biggest shopping area in Osaka Minami (ミナミ).

The Daimaru department store in this district has three buildings and each sells different types of products. Midosuji Boulevard is an ultra high-class shopping street with famous fashion brands and sporting good brands. In Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Arcade(心斎橋筋商店街), foreign fashion brand flagships, famous grocery stores, and even an Apple flagship are all gathered together. Actually, this Apple store is the only one in the Kansai region.

It's pretty hard to find a seat in a cafe without waiting on line for very long time on holidays.

However, there is one! Although it's located close to Shinsaibashi Station and just next to a department store, it's difficult to find it. It's called, "Asian Tea Ichicha (一茶)".

Why is the cafe difficult to find out?

To get to the shop, follow the signboard.

Or you can find the cafe further in this lane.

Once you start to doubt if you're going the right way, that's when you'll get there.

Varieties of Tea Flavors, Home-made Sweets, and Lunch Dishes

This shop has three floors and you can enjoy a wide variety of Asian teas with teapots and cups. Sweets such as ma lai gao and Chinese-style buns are served with tea. The sweet taste will calm your nerves.

You can choose from four lunch combos, I recommend the "Bowl of Grounded chicken and rice, dessert (Chinese almond jelly or compote of cherry tomato) and tea". It costs 650yen. Rice porridge would also be a nice choice, especially when you want to relax.

There are many kinds of teas such as Tieguanyin and jasmine, etc.
You can ask about the differences in the teas at the cafe.

Tea leaves and tea ceremony utensils are also available here.

You can find very unique teas called "flowering tea". When you pour hot water into the tea pot, flowers start to bloom from inside the pot.

WiFi and Outlets Available

The cafe draws us in us with considerate service.

You can borrow a knee rug and add hot water to your tea pot freely by yourself. Outlets and WiFi are available on every floor. You can rest here for a long time. You can bring your laptop or just look outside while relaxing on the KARIMOKU FURNITURE sofa. You can stay here for as long as you want, especially on weekdays.

But you have to order an additional cup of tea if you want to stay here for more than two hours using the outlets. Please follow the rules and enjoy a nice time here.

Here, some events are irregularly held such as comic story telling (落語), movies to watch, and photo exhibitions run by "Instagramers Japan", a group of Instagram users.

Here is a place where you can relax yourself, away from the din and bustle of the city.
