Famous Japanese characters drawn on your coffee? Yes please! Check out these different cafes and find a drink with your favorite on it.

Who wouldn't be excited about having famous Japanese comic characters drawn on their coffee? Here are some great cafes all around Tokyo where you can enjoy latte art featuring popular Japanese characters!

1. Cafe MugiwaraBoshi (Mitaka Ghibli Art Museum)

An art museum where you can indulge yourself in the world of Ghibli, the Ghibli Museum is located in Mitaka. At the cafe inside the museum called Cafe Mugiwaraboshi, you can enjoy some lattes with hats drawn on them which resemble those of the characters in different Ghibli movies.

Hmm..Whose hat is this..?? Mei from My Neighbor Totoro? Gina from Porco Rosso? Or does it belong to Nahoko of The Wind Rises??… Be careful, you're coffee will get cold if you think about it for too long.

Above the cafe, the Robot Soldior from Laputa, The Castle of the Sky watches over.

Actually, they used to have latte art coffees of Kiki from "Kiki's Delivery Service", but since their barista changed they have stopped serving it. As a Ghibli fan myself, I hope the latte comes back to the menu soon!

2. Fujiko F. Fujio Museum Cafe (Fujiko F. Fujio Museum

There's a cafe inside the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum, where you'll find all the wonders of Fujiko Fujio's work. There you can enjoy latte art of the one and only Doraemon, and if you are in a group ordering lattes, the barista will entertain you with artworks of various characters from the cartoon "Doraemon".

Not only that but they also have original dishes based on different foods from Doraemon comics, such as the French toast Ankipan (memorization bread) and dorayaki. For those not familiar with Ankipan, it is one of Doraemon's secret tools that he pulls out of his pocket whenever his friend Nobita is in trouble.

Inside the museum, you will find spaces where you can actually read the comics, and also displays of the original sketches, so you can fully enjoy the world of Doraemon.

If you are looking for some sweets to go along with your coffee, I recommend going to Harmonyland, which you can find in both Tokyo and Oita's Sanrio Puroland. These Hello Kitty donuts are only available in Harmonyland, and make perfect souvenirs as well.

4. Moomin Bakery Cafe (Tokyo Dome Laqua City Store)

This place is the Japanese original brand shop of the Finnish character Moomin, which is hugely popular in Japan. At this space where the bakery, cafe and shop are all together, you can enjoy a cute latte art coffee like the ones below.

There are Moomin everywhere, from the original goods to the dinner plates with Little My and the Hattifnatts. The place is great for kids as well.
