Yokohama city in Kanagawa prefecture is a popular entertainment and sightseeing destination with fascinating areas such as Chinatown and Minato Mirai. This time, we would like to suggest a one-day route to get the most out of a trip to Yokohama from Minato Mirai station.

Morning: Arrive at Minato Mirai Station

We will begin our journey at Minato Mirai station in the morning. From Yokohama Station you can get to Minato Mirai station on the Minato Mirai line bound for Motomachi Chukagai. It is only a three minute train ride, so you will arrive rather quickly.

Morning: Yokohama Landmark Tower

As an iconic symbol of Yokohama, the Landmark Tower is a skyscraper that contains hotels, offices, shopping malls and many other facilities open to the public. At the Sky Garden on the 69th observatory floor, you will be able to witness a panoramic view of Yokohama, Tokyo Tower, SKYTREE, Shinjuku, Boso Peninsula, Izu Peninsula and even Mt. Fuji on a nice sunny day.

From Minato Mirai Station, the Yokohama Landmark Tower is only a three minute walk.

Lunch: Red Brick Warehouse

The Red Brick Warehouse is a building that was used as a real warehouse until 1989. In 1992, when Minato Mirai went under reconstruction, the Red Brick Warehouse also became part of the massive project and was reopened as a fancy commercial building in 2002 with many restaurants and shops. At the Red Brick Warehouse, there are many events going on year-round. With many cafes, restaurants, and shops with a variety of items, it is a popular spot to go on dates. At night, the building is also lit up, creating a romantic atmosphere.

From Yokohama Landmark Tower, it takes approximately twenty minutes on foot to reach the Red Brick Warehouse. You can also take the special tour bus called Akai Kutsu, which for 100 yen will bring you there in fifteen minutes.

Afternoon: Yamashita Park

From Feeling the Breeze at Yokohama’s Yamashita Park

Yamashita Park is the first seaside park in Japan and has a rich history. Lined with benches, you can relax here while watching the sea and enjoying the refreshing breeze. This is also a popular spot for dates in Yokohama. From the Red Brick Warehouse, you can take a short cruise on the Seabass to get to Yamashita Park.

Late Afternoon: Chinatown

From ChinaTown in Yokohama: the Biggest in Japan

Chinatown is an area where many Chinese restaurants offering tasty dishes stand side by side. It is a very popular spot and it's highly recommended to feast upon the many different delicious Chinese treats when visiting.

From Yamashita Park, it is about a ten minute walk to Chinatown.

Sundown to Evening: Yokohama Cosmo World

Yokohama Cosmo World is an amusement park that is a two minute walk from Minato Mirai station. The convenient location brings in many visitors to the amusement park. One of its highlights is the "Cosmo Clock 21" Ferris wheel that is one of the largest in the world. At night, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Yokohama illuminated. It is free to enter and you can purchase tickets for the Ferris wheel on site.

It is best to go from Chinatown to Cosmo World by taking the Akai Kutsu loop bus on the Chinatown Motomachi route. You can also take a quick five-minute train ride from Motomachi Chukagai Station to Minato Mirai Station.

The Ramen Museum

The Ramen Museum is a fun spot where you can taste a great variety of ramen dishes from all over Japan. You can find flavors such as miso, salt, pork broth and other unique soups here.

There are various ways to get from Minato Mirai Station to Shin-Yokohama Station, but the easiest way is to get on the Tokyu Toyoko Line to Kikuna Station, then transfer to the JR Yokohama Line to Shin-Yokohama Station. Once you get off the train at Shin-Yokohama Station, you will find the Ramen Museum after a five minute walk.
