Actually, this hostel used to be a "love hotel", which are short stay hotels meant for couples. Love hotels are perhaps best known for their flashy architecture and interior design; here you can get a sense of what older love hotels may have looked like in the past.

Ryokan are for travelers who wish to experience Japanese culture and enjoy the comforts of Japanese hospitality and service; here you will have to sleep on a futon on the tatami-covered bunk.
This room retains the appearance of its love-hotel days. The system of a Japanese love hotel is complicated but here, you can see and stay in a Japanese love hotel room.（＊But now, you can't use this room and hostel as a love hotel!）
