Matcha Sweets Fair At IKEA Japan - The Princess Cake Gets A Makeover
IKEA Japan holds a Matcha Sweets Fair. The popular Princess Cake will come in a Japan-limited matcha version and matcha parfaits and cakes will all be available at IKEA Japan's restaurants and bistros from May to June 2019.
The Swedish furniture company IKEA might not be on your list of must-visit places in Japan. However, you might want to reconsider as they are holding a special Matcha Sweets Fair with items exclusively to IKEA Japan.
IKEA's soft serve ice cream is popular for its delicious taste and value for money. For the Matcha Sweets Fair, it will be available as a Matcha Parfait (250 yen) with matcha warabi mochi (bracken starch rice cakes) and anko (sweet red bean paste).
The Matcha Princess Cake (249 yen) will dress up in a matcha flavored fondant for the special occasion. The core will be the usual well-loved mixture of airy cream and raspberry jam on a fluffy chiffon cake.
Mont blanc is a popular Japanese dessert usually made with chestnut custard. IKEA's Matcha Mont Blanc (299 yen) is covered with matcha custard cream instead of chestnut. Its center is similar to that of the princess cake mentioned above.
The Matcha Souffle Roll (259 yen) consists of an airy, matcha flavored sponge cake filled with rich matcha custard.
The cheapest item on the menu is the Matcha Scone (199 yen). It is made with matcha green tea and white chocolate chunks. The top is drizzled with matcha chocolate.
The limited edition matcha items will be available at the restaurant and bistro of any Japanese IKEA until June 2nd, 2019.
