Coin lockers in JR Tokyo Station and Ryogoku Station will be inoperable from May 25 to May 28. Travelers with large baggage are advised to use the coin lockers of other stations for storage.
This is a security measure taken on the occasion of the President of the United States of America Donald Trump's official visit to Japan. After arriving in Japan on May 25, Donald Trump will be attending the final match of the professional sumo tournament on May 26 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan (Ryogoku Sumo Hall). For this reason, the use of coin lockers will also be suspended within the JR Ryogoku Station.
In addition to coin lockers, garbage cans and even vending machines within Tokyo Station and Ryogoku Station will be unusable.
Please note that security measures will be strengthened at both stations and at Ryogoku Kokugikan from May 25 to May 28.
We advise all travelers who plan to use Tokyo Station and Ryogoku Station to avoid carrying around large baggage and to consider using the coin lockers of neighboring stations for storage if necessary. In case you need to dispose of waste, please keep it with you until you get out of the proximity of the two stations.
For your stay in Tokyo to be comfortable and trouble-free, we kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.
