"Shishirian Riceシシリアンライス" is a regional dish of Saga prefecture.  What springs to mind when you hear this word?

What is "Shishirian Rice(シシリアンライス)"?

"Shishirian Rice(シシリアンライス)" is a local food created at one of the coffee shops in Saga Prefecture. "fresh vegetables and flavored meat on top of rice then put mayonnaise over it."  This was a makanai dish, which is the dish created for staff members of restaurants using leftovers at a restaurant. Most of the people who know it are locals. It is a regional local dish here in Saga prefecture.

What it tastes and looks like and ingredients they use for the Shishirian Rice varies from restaurant to restaurant.

If you visit Saga Prefecture, You will get to see the Shishirian Rice on a menu at most of the restaurants.
All of them look really attractive and taste is good. I will introduce some of them here.

EL Cafe(エルカフェ)

Beef in the Shishirian Rice here at "EL cafe is well-flavored. They get vegetables done with sour dressing. It makes taste not heavy.  You might image flower fields when you have the Shishirian Rice in front of you.

Mitsuse Chadokoro Yamaboushi(みつせ茶処やまぼうし)

As you can see from a picture above, the Shishirian Rice at "Mitsuse Chadokoro Yamaboushi(みつせ茶処やまぼうし)" is really colorful. They use Mitsuse chicken, which is a type of chicken produced in Shiga Prefecture, flavored with Teriyaki source. They also put fresh blueberries on the top. The sauce they put over it is also unique, which is a combination of mayonnaise sauce and blueberry sauce.

GABAI Inoshishi Shyokusai (GABAI いのしし食彩)

The Shishirian Rice here GABAI Inoshishi Shyokusai is good for beauty since they use wild boar meat which is rich in Vitamin B1 and collagen. They season the wild boar meat with original sauce and serve it with vegetables.

Ariyume(アリユメ)

The Shishirian rice served here at "Ariyume (アリユメ)" is a combination of barbecued meat with original sauce and fresh vegetables covered over with sour dressing.

Saga Retorokan(さがレトロ館)

A building of Saga Retorokan(さがレトロ館) is a previous police headquarters building built in 1887. Roasted beef produced in Shiga Prefecture and 13 different kinds of rice are used for the Shishirian rice here. They finish up with Onsen Tamago(a special type of slow-cooked boiled eggs).

Anniversary of The Shishirian rice.

You might be surprised to hear that Shishirian Rice has an anniversary. As I said, people here in Shiga love it and eat it since they were child.

4th of April every year is the day for the Shishirian rice. This is the important date for citizens of Saga Prefecture recognized by Japan Anniversary Association.

An event is held on April 4th every year. A local character called Shishirianna chan(シシリアンナちゃん) is also there.

ShiShirianna chan is a female Kappa(creatures in Japanese folklore). She has the Shishirian rice on her head.
The Shishirian rice is a healthy food created in Saga prefecture. You can get to eat both of meat and vegetables at the same time.
