A Medley of Regional Dishes and Cultural Festivals at Furusato Matsuri

The Furusato Matsuri Tokyo 2020 is a large-scale food and cultural experience event. Held inside and around Tokyo Dome in central Tokyo, visitors can experience the dishes and customs of different prefectures and regions of Japan at one venue, firsthand. There are special performances and activities planned throughout the period of the festivities.

The events are held this year for ten days, from Friday, January 10 through Sunday, January 19, 2020. Non-Japanese visitors are eligible for discount tickets (see the end of this article for details).

Snack At Over 300 Food Stalls from All Over Japan

Be sure to visit the event with an appetite, as around 380 food and drink stalls offering regional dishes are located at the venue. Indulge in everything from local varieties of ramen to seafood rice bowls, Japanese bread, desserts, sake, and craft beer. High-quality, regional ingredients make each dish delectable and worth trying!

This is one of the best opportunities to try dishes and beverages from all over Japan in one spot. With so much selection, there will be something that everyone can enjoy!

Watch the Nebuta Festival, Taiko, and Special Performances

Furusato Matsuri also features performances and renditions of regional festivals and dances. For example, visitors can watch and learn about World Heritage-registered festivals, like the Nebuta Festival with its larger-than-life colorful lantern floats. Summer dances like the Awa odori will also be performed, as well as taiko.

Different mascots from cities and prefectures across Japan, including Kumamon from Kumamoto Prefecture, will make appearances throughout the days of the event.

Access: Just outside the west exit from JR Suidobashi Station; just outside exit 2 of Tokyo Metro Korakuen Station; just outside of exit 6 of Toei Subway Kasuga Station

Tickets: 1,000 yen for non-Japanese visitors when bought online in advance
