Häagen-Dazs Royal Jasmine Tea: A New Limited-Edition Spring Dessert!

Continue reading to learn more about the features of this limited-edition mini cup ice cream. We'll also share the thoughts of the MATCHA staff who tried it.
Made with the Carefully Selected Jasmine Tea Leaves
Jasmine tea enjoys great popularity all around the world. Japanese confectionery brands have already released jasmine milk tea desserts that are loved widely.
Jasmine tea is made by infusing tea leaves with the aroma of jasmine flowers. Gingo is the name of a very refined type of jasmine tea leaves. In order to create Gingo leaves, 100 kg of tea leaves are infused with the fragrance of 200 kg of jasmine flowers in a process that is repeated six times. This results in a rich, flowery aroma.
The Häagen-Dazs limited-edition mini cup Royal Jasmine Tea was created using carefully selected Gingo jasmine tea leaves in combination with rich-tasting milk. The refined jasmine-flavored ice cream is very smooth and has a refreshing aftertaste.
The Perfect Treat on a Sunny Spring Day!
We asked two members of MATCHA's staff, Miho (Japanese editor) and Tei (Thai editor) to tell us their thoughts on the new Häagen-Dazs Royal Jasmine Tea.
"This is delicious! This ice cream is so fragrant!" exclaimed Tei after one bite. "The aroma of jasmine tea just spreads in your mouth!"
"The jasmine tea flavor really stands out. I've never experienced such a flavor before," said Miho.
"In Thailand, do you often use jasmine in specialty cuisine?" we asked our Thai editor.
"It's not so common, actually. I mean, we have jasmine rice, which is made by infusing the rice with jasmine flower fragrance. And we have jasmine tea from Chinese cuisine, but that's about it. That's why this combination was quite unexpected for me."
A Flavor that Refreshes Your Spirit
We then asked our colleagues to tell us when they would like to treat themselves to the Häagen-Dazs Royal Jasmine Tea.
"I'd love to eat it on a sunny day, maybe sitting on a bench in the park. This wonderful jasmine fragrance would go great with some hot black tea," said Miho.
"For me, it's the perfect dessert for a break or when I need to refresh. I think it would go great with black coffee. The sweetness and fragrance of this ice cream would stand out even more," said Tei full of enthusiasm.
The Häagen-Dazs mini cup Royal Jasmine Tea is a refined dessert that lifts up one's spirit, conjuring up images of a jasmine flower bouquet. This fabulous springtime dessert is available in supermarkets and convenience stores throughout Japan from April 14, 2020.
