I'm an American that came to Japan seeking out the best Aikido, most winding mountain roads, and freshest raw fish I can find.

The menu is hung from the wall on sheets of paper, or wooden planks, in traditional Japanese fashion, giving an immediate sense of immersion for travelers from abroad.

The second floor differs quite a bit from the first. Where the first floor is more open and casual, the second floor is much more cozy.

The second floor offers a tatami mat (woven bamboo) floor, and cushions for sitting in seiza (Japanese kneeling). The atmosphere of the second floor is welcoming, enticing patrons to stretch their legs, and share a few drinks with good company.

Despite possibly looking small, the second floor offers space for a total of 54 guests.

There is also an English menu, helping share the experience with foreigners and tourists.

Recently "Mizuguchi" has been putting in effort to multiply the number of foreign guests visiting their establishment. To better accomodate guests that do not speak Japanese they have prepared a menu in English. For further ease of use, you can simply point to what you would like to order.

For people who are not particularly skilled with using Hashi (chopsticks), forks and knives are available. However, travelers choose to take the challenge of using Hashi.

The Chef's Recommendation! Try the house sauce! (In the Iributta)

With more than 100 items to choose from it can be hard to make a commitment. Luckily, the chef recommends the house sauce, which can be found in the Iributta (a la carte ¥ 580, set ¥ 930).

This "Mizuguchi" special consists of the house sauce, pork, and onions mixed together. The sweet flavor of the sauce pairs gracefully with the pork, pulling out all of the flavors of this savory dish.

The sauce resembles the taste of Japanese curry. The texture is just right and pleasing to the bite, complimented by the accent of the onions and the sweetness of the sauce.

The set comes with rice, Otsukemono (Japanese pickled vegetables), and miso soup. The large bowl of rice in the picture is just Futsu (normal) size!

There are more than 100 items for the a la carte menu, including Sashimi and rice bowl meals that are popular with tourists.

"Mizuguchi" is a favorite with locals and travelers Alike, so please feel free to come Have A Sample from Their menu and Their experience - also, credit cards are accepted at this establishment!
