Okutsu Onsen

Okutsu Onsen, which is located in the inner collapse of the Chugoku Mountains in northern Okayama Prefecture, has been selected as one of Japan's top 100 tourist destinations. The origin of this hot spring is said to have been discovered during the era of the Yakumo Imperial Court, when Sukunahikona-no-mikoto, who was ordered by Okuninushi-no-mikoto, made a patrol of the region as an envoy. In 1962, Okutsu Onsen was used as the setting for the Shochiku movie "Akitsu Onsen," in which Mariko Okada played the heroine. 　There are famous places such as Okutsu Valley, Forest Park, Sengen Valley, Pothole, Hoshi no Sato Camp Village, Koshin Village, Roadside Station Okutsu Onsen, Fairy Forest Glass Museum, and Lake Okutsu. A strange custom in this hot spring area is "foot step cleaning".
