MATCHA's Recommendation
Moerenuma Park was constructed around the concept that "its entirety is a single, complete sculpture." The basic design is the work of Isamu Noguchi, a world-renowned sculptor.
Facilities are artfully arranged across the vast grounds and include geometrically shaped hills, a water fountain, and assorted playground equipment. Here, visitors can enjoy lovely scenery that melds nature with art. Cherry blossoms bloom across the gournds during the spring, while water play areas and the water fountain are popular attractions during Sapporo's delightful summer. Autumn brings colorful foliage, and winter makes it possible to partake in cross-country skiing, sledding, and other winter sports along a vast snowy landscape. These traits give the park its seasonal charm.
The park has also garnered praise for its attention to nature conservation. The land was a garbage landfill before being built into a park. Additionally, the glass pyramid uses the region's snowfall as natural energy in its indoor air-conditioning system.
Bathrooms are available onsite.
