Mirei Shigemori Memorial Museum

This memorial hall honors Mirei Shigemori, a native of Kibichuo-cho, Okayama Prefecture, who is one of Japan's leading garden researchers. Mr. Shigemori, who is well suited to the term ``eternally modern,'' studied gardening and garden design on his own and has left behind many innovative gardens throughout Japan that are distinctive for their powerful stonework and dry landscapes. The memorial hall displays many works, calligraphy and paintings, including the ``Japanese Garden History Series.''
