Tomitsu Benten Park

Prefectural park. You can overlook Tachibana Bay. Tomitsu Benten is enshrined here, and local fishermen pray for a big catch. It is made up of reefs and old pine trees that have withstood strong waves and sea breezes for many years, and you can enjoy fishing at the most scenic spot on the Honmachi coastline, with views of Amakusa and the Nomo Peninsula in the distance. There is a deity here called Benzaiten (commonly known as Benten-sama), who was originally the Indian god of learning, but it is said that he entered Buddhism and that his genius spread Buddhism and became worshiped. In Japan, it is one of the Seven Lucky Gods that are enshrined near water such as rivers, ponds, islands, and noses.
