Himeyuri Tower

The year after the end of the war, the first Himeyuri monument, a few tens of centimetres high, was erected by surviving family members and others near the Ihara No. 3 Surgery Cave, where many female students died. The names of the Himeyuri students who died are inscribed on the monument, and a charnel house is located behind it. Even now, 68 years after the end of the war, many visitors come to offer prayers.
