Shiraito Falls

One of Japan's top 100 waterfalls. Along the Mogami River, there are a group of waterfalls in Mogami Gorge, which forms a steep mountain slope between 300 and 500 meters above sea level, and Shiraito Falls at the western end is the largest of them. The name comes from the fact that the water that falls into the Mogami River looks like white thread. There is Fudo-do Hall below the waterfall and Kusanagi Onsen on the opposite bank. <Matsuo Basho> Oku no Hosomichi ``Shiraito Falls falls between the green leaves, and the Sennin-do Temple stands on the shore.
