Tsuyama Local Museum

Tsuyama is home to Mimasaka Kokufu, Kokubunji Temple, and Tsuyama Castle, and has consistently prospered as the political, economic, and cultural center of Mimasaka from ancient times to early modern times. In particular, in 1603, Mori Tadamasa was sealed off with over 180,000 koku of Mimasaka, and soon after he built Tsuyama Castle, the city has developed a unique culture as a castle town. The Tsuyama Folk Museum is a municipal history museum established for the purpose of collecting, preserving, and researching such local cultural properties, and making the results widely available to the public.
