Chofu Mori residence

Chofu Mori residence was built by Mr. Mori Mototoshi, the 14th head of Chofu Mori family, who came back to Shimonoseki from Tokyo and chose the place for his house. It began to construct the house in 1989 and finished in 1903, and then it was used as a house of Chofu Mori family. In November, 1902, during the construction, the Emperor Meiji stayed there and some rooms were remained as it were, recalling bygone days. A Japanese garden surrounded by the grave main building of Samurai residence-style and the white wall, with fresh green and colored leaves, has visitors feel the taste. At some places of the main building, seasonal flowers are arranged, and you can help yourself to drink a green tea and Maccha in the middle of walking. Have a slow and quiet time!
