Ganryu Island

Funa-shima Island，famous as “Ganryu Island”，is located near Kanmon Straits in Yamaguchi. Ganyu Island reminds Japanese people of the Two Greatest Swordsman fight Musashi Miyakoto with wooden sword against Kojiro Sasaki in Ittoryu style. One legend says that Musashi came late for the duel with Kojiro on purpose making him angry，and then Musashi beat him. However，there are various theories in the story and nobody knows the truth. Visitors take ferry or charter ferry to go to Ganryu Island that is uninhabited island now. Many historic fans from in and outside Japan come to see the stone monument of the fight.
