Nabeshima residence

The Nabeshima Residence, which has a historic appearance, is the site of the lord's camp, the Nabeshima clan, and was designated as the first National Important Cultural Property on the Shimabara Peninsula in 2007. Located in Kunimi-cho, Unzen City, within Kamishirokoji, in front of which stands the Nagayamon gate and 30m stone wall that were completed in the first year of the Keio era, there is also a stroll-style dry landscape garden with a wonderful view of Mt. Unzen Fugendake. There are Hikan cherry blossoms in the garden, so during the blooming period around February, it is crowded with many people who come to enjoy the flowers. Also, in spring, azaleas and seasonal flowers brighten up the garden.
