Aizu Sazaedo (Entsu Sanpodo)

Aizu Sazaedo is a 16.5m high, three-story hexagonal temple built in 1796 on Mt. Iimori in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. The official name is "Entsu-san Sodo." In the past, the Saigoku Thirty-Three Kannon Statues were enshrined along the unique double-helix slope, and it was said that by visiting this hall, worshipers could visit the Thirty-Three Kannon. In addition, by adopting a unique architectural style in the world, the one-way structure where the up and down paths are completely separate paths allows many worshipers to pray safely without passing each other. Its existence was recognized and it was designated as a national important cultural property in 1996.
