Chikubushima Island - A sacred island on Lake Biwa, Japan's largest lake

Chikubushima Island, floating on Lake Biwa, has a mysterious atmosphere. The principal image of Hogon-ji Temple is Benzaiten and the Thousand-Armed Kannon. Benzaiten is counted among the three Benten in Japan, along with Miyajima and Enoshima. The temple has a deep connection with Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and the Karamon Gate (national treasure) of Hogon-ji Temple is part of the Gokurakumon Gate of Osaka Castle built by Hideyoshi, and is attracting attention as the only surviving relic of Osaka Castle.
