Aizu-Wakamatsu Castle is said to have originated approximately 630 years ago when its predecessor, Higashikurokawa-yakata, was built by Ashina Naomori.It became famous throughout the country as a renowned castle that withstood roughly a month of fierce fighting during the Boshin War.
