Burial Site of Emperor Go-Toba

Retired Emperor Go-Toba, who was exiled to the Oki Islands in the early 13th century, spent the last 19 years of his life on Nakanoshima Island. After he passed away, some of his ashes were sent back to the capital Kyoto, but some were also buried here.
