Mt.Kinpo (Kinpusan)

One of the 100 famous mountains in Kyushu. A sacred mountain that has been worshiped since ancient times. Mt. Kinpo is a mountain with an altitude of 636 meters consisting of three peaks: Hondake, Higashidake, and Kitadake, and has been known for a long time as a famous and sacred peak of Nansatsu. Together with Mt. Kaimondake and Mt. Noma, it is called the ``Three Famous Mountains of the Satsuma Peninsula,'' and has also been selected as one of Kyushu's 100 Famous Mountains. It was once a mountain for ascetic training, and Zao Gongen is enshrined at Kinmine Shrine at the 9th station. The mountain's ridgeline resembles the shape of a reclining woman, so it is also affectionately known by the locals as Bijin-dake. You can drive to the top of the mountain, and it takes about 20 minutes from the parking lot to the top via Kinpo Shrine. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a wide view of Fukiage Beach, Cape Noma, Minamisatsuma City, and Sakurajima to the east.
