ITOMACHI HOTEL 0 is Japan's first Zero Energy hotel built in Saijo, known as the City of Water. Kengo Kuma designed this Zero Energy hotel as a community hub for the city of Saijo which is known as a source of clean “Uchinuki” well water from Mt. Ishizuchi, considered to be a sacred mountain. The “Itomachi” network was used as a node and symbol to design this hotel as a new base of exchange with a new post coronavirus pandemic age lifestyle that transcends the solving of global environmental problems. Just as people's diverse activities have been born by accessing water and benefiting from nature, the hotel will create a new cycle by implementing environmental initiatives starting with zero energy, and will spread the richness of Saijo and, by extension, Ehime.
