Ayu Chaya Hiranoya

You can enjoy "shinko," a specialty of Hiranoya in Saga Toriimoto, a long, thin rice flour dumpling coated with kinako and brown sugar. In addition to being a teahouse, Hiranoya also operated an ayu wholesaler, and even today it serves seasonal course meals (reservations required) such as wild vegetables and bamboo shoots in the spring, ayu in the summer, matsutake mushrooms in the fall, and wild boar hotpot in the winter.
