Kiragawa Machinami Kan

Kiragawa Townscape Museum, located in front of Onda Hachimangu Shrine in Kiragawa-cho, was renovated from an old house and opened in 2013 to allow many people to learn about the history and cultural architecture of the Kiragawa. Kiragawa-cho is home to the "Kiragawa-cho Streetscape" of Muroto City, which has been selected as a nationally designated "Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings." The streetscape, with its rows of storehouses, preserves a good old Japanese atmosphere. Another highlight is being able to see traditional architectural techniques up close, such as the "mizukiri kawara" (water-cutting tiles) and white walls on the walls. At the Townscape Museum, you can view materials and apply for a townscape guide (reservations required). Feel free to use the restroom as well. Stop by for a rest in a quaint tatami room while taking a leisurely stroll along the Kiragawa.
