Fukuchiyama City Flood Control Memorial Hall

This facility was renovated from a 140-year-old townhouse to convey the history of the fight against flooding and the importance of future flood prevention. The memorial building was built in the 1870s and features a large space in the attic that can be used as an evacuation site in the event of a flood, as well as a pulley for lifting cargo during evacuation. This building is of great historical value and symbolizes Fukuchiyama's townhouses (merchant houses), retaining the appearance of a merchant house from the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods.
