Chojiya

Located in Maruko, a post town on the Tokaido Road's 53 Stations, Chojiya offers Shizuoka local cuisine such as Tororo-jiru, a specialty of Shizuoka wild yam that was eaten by travelers along the Tokaido Road in the Edo period, and the spherical sprouts of wild yam, mukago. The interior of the restaurant, an old house reminiscent of the Tokaido Road in the Edo period, features a historical museum that displays tools actually used by travelers during the Edo period, as well as works by Basho, Jippensha Ikku, and Utagawa Hiroshige, all of which are associated with Maruko Chojiya.
