Okitsu Seikenji Temple

Founded in the Nara period, this is one of the most historic temples on the Tokaido. In addition to the garden, which has been designated a national scenic spot, and the Garyu-bai plum tree that is said to have been grafted by Ieyasu, there are many other designated cultural properties, including the temple bell, mountain gate, and calligraphy and paintings. In addition, the temple has been designated a national historic site as it is associated with Korean envoys. From the hall on the second floor, the temple offers a magnificent view, with Suruga Bay and Miho no Matsubara below, Nihon-daira to the right, and the distant Izu mountains to the left.
