Hofukuji Temple

This is a temple of the Tofukuji sect of the Rinzai sect, and is a Zen temple associated with the painter Sesshu. During the Bicchu War at the end of the Muromachi period, it was destroyed, leaving behind the three-storied pagoda, but since the Edo period, Shichido Garan has been gradually restored. The precincts include the main gate, Buddhist hall, three-storied pagoda, sutra storehouse, repository, hojo, shoin, Zendo, bell tower, Kaizando, and other facilities, making it a stately building in the style of Zen Buddhism. The three-storied pagoda has been designated as a national important cultural property.
