Shiomachi Karakoto Street (Ushimado townscape)

Ushimado, which has flourished as a port for waiting for the wind and tide since ancient times, retains many traces of its time as a port town from the Edo period to around 1955. The area is dotted with traditional buildings and historical sites, such as Honrenji Temple, the ruins of a teahouse associated with the Korean envoys, white-walled storehouses, lattice doors, the former Chugoku Bank, and the ruins of the Lantern Hall.
