Hachimantai Onsen village

Hachimantai is a large plateau area straddling Iwate and Akita prefectures. On the plateau at an altitude of 1,000 to 1,600m, volcanic landforms spread out along with the scenery of virgin forests and alpine plants in full bloom. Goshogake Onsen, which is a two-minute drive from Onuma Onsen, retains the charm of a hot spring resort, with ondol-style lodgings and sauna-like steam baths. Nearby is the Goshogake Nature Research Trail. Fukenoyu Onsen, which is about 10 minutes away from this hot spring, is popular with tourists for its rustic open-air baths. 　Obuka Onsen, which is located along the Aspite Line, is surrounded by broad-leaved trees, so you can also enjoy forest bathing. At 1,400 meters above sea level, Toshichi Onsen near the summit is the highest hot spring in the Tohoku region. In addition, the scenic spot of Yomogi is nearby, and it is a rare natural garden that combines old trees and rocks.
