Daiganji Temple

Kameiyama Houkouin Daiganji is a Shingon sect, the origin of which is unknown, and was revived by the monk Ryokai during the Kennin era (1201-1203) of the Kamakura period. It is said that The current main hall used to be a monk's quarters, and Senjokaku, which is the grand sutra hall, was planned to become the main hall. In the old days, after passing through the large torii gate and landing on the sandy beach near Daiganji Temple, worshipers would cleanse themselves in the large bath behind Daiganji Temple, rest at the monk's lodgings, change clothes, and then visit Itsukushima Shrine. The exit of Itsukushima Shrine is made of karahafu, which indicates that it used to be the entrance.
