Iwamura History Museum/Folklore Museum

The Iwamura Historical Museum and the Folklore Museum attached to it are located at the entrance to the mountain trail to the Iwamura Castle ruins. ◆Iwamura Historical Museum The Iwamura Historical Museum, which houses the history of Iwamura Town for more than 800 years, opened in 1972 as the fourth museum in the country. The stilts, hipped roof, and white walls give the impression of a castle. The exhibits are all of high historical value, including the ``Illustrated map of Kyoho Iwamura Castle'', ``Illustrated map of Meiwa Iwamura Castle'', and ``Issai Sato's self-eulogized image'', all of which are designated as important cultural properties by Gifu Prefecture. ◆Folklore Museum The thatched-roof folklore museum is an old private house that was relocated as it was. Numerous folk implements that bear witness to the lives of our predecessors teach us the wisdom and skills of everyday life. The admission ticket is the same as the history museum.
