Gensei Swamp

This is a group of plants that grow in a virgin marsh located a few minutes walk from Unzen Onsen town. The virgin marsh is located in a small wetland with an area of ​​approximately 1.2 hectares at the eastern foot of Mt. Kinukasa, in a corner of the Unzen hot spring town. The area around this virgin swamp is a wetland where no fumarolic activity can be seen, but in the past there was active fumarolic activity like the ``Daikokan Jigoku'' in Unzen Jigoku. From this, it is believed that the geothermal area is gradually moving eastward.
