Hida Tenmangu Shrine

Hida Tenmangu is a shrine that enshrines Michizane Sugawara, who is famous as the god of learning. It is said that the shrine began when Kaneshige Sugawara, the Hida Gonjo, heard that his father Michizane Sugawara had passed away in Dazaifu, and built a shrine to enshrine a wooden statue he had carved with his own hands. There is a stone statue of the ``wishing stroke cow,'' which is said to make your wish come true if you stroke the cow and make a wish, which is a messenger from Tenjin, and is visited by many students and students taking entrance exams. There are also about 50 plum trees planted on the premises, making it a spectacular spot where you can see beautiful plum trees in spring.
