Omachi City Mountain Museum

As it is located at the foot of the 3000m-high Northern Alps, it is home to Japan's first mountain-themed museum. There is also an observation lounge where you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Northern Alps and watch videos. The museum introduces the origins of the Northern Alps, displays stuffed animals of animals that live in the mountainous regions, and various other materials about the relationship between mountains and people from ancient times to the present. In the attached garden next door, which is free to enter, you can see a variety of animals and plants, including Japanese serows and ptarmigans, which are said to only live in high mountains at altitudes of 2000 meters or more.
