Nagano

Nagano prefecture is a landlocked, mountainous part of the Chubu region best known as the host city of the 1998 Winter Olympics.

This famous ski and snowboarding area has numerous hot spring resorts where you can meet Japanese snow monkeys, the black Matsumoto Castle, and is where you will find Karuizawa, a popular summer getaway spot where you can see the incredible Shiraito waterfall.
