Kitakasuya Spring Festival

This festival is said to have started to celebrate the arrival of spring, pray for a good harvest, and quell epidemics. The Kitakasuya float "Kao-sha", a cultural property designated by Chita City, is pulled around. The entire "Kao-sha" float is decorated with parrot shells and luminous shells, and is made entirely of mother-of-pearl, which is rare nationwide. In the evening, paper lanterns are attached, adding a touch of beauty to the mother-of-pearl.
