Miki Family Residence

The Miki family moved from Shikamatsu (Shikama) to Tsujikawa in Fukusaki Town in 1655, and became a central figure in the local politics and culture as the headman of the Himeji Domain. They also had a deep connection with Kunio Yanagita, the "father of folklore studies," who was born in Fukusaki Town, and in 1972 the Miki family home was designated a cultural property by Hyogo Prefecture. It was later acquired by the town in 2004 and is now a central part of the town's development as a Fukusaki Town asset.
