Ceramic tile of the pillar of the Naruto Shinbashi Bridge (Naruto, Kitadomari, Awa, from the Sixty-eight Views of Various Provinces)

This ceramic panel was installed on the main pillar of the Ko- Naruto Bridge on the Kameura Port Kushiki Line ( Naruto Skyline) Prefectural Road as part of a project by the Hyogo/Tokushima " Naruto Whirlpools " World Heritage Registration Promotion Council. The ukiyo-e paintings of Naruto were created by an ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period based on the ukiyo-e of "Sixty-eight Views of Various Provinces: Awa Kitadomari Naruto " by Utagawa Hiroshige II, and are installed so that visitors can compare the past and present scenery from Naruto Shinbashi Bridge.
