Shiromaru Dam

Shiromaru Dam, located on the east side of Okutama Town, is smaller in scale than Ogouchi Dam, but it regulates the water flow of the Tama River and is also used for hydroelectric power generation. The dam began operation in 1963, is approximately 30 meters high, 61 meters long, and has a dam volume of approximately 14,000 cubic meters. Particularly distinctive is the Shiromaru Fishway, which was completed in 2001 as an artificial waterway for fish to swim upstream over a 27-meter elevation difference.
