Nagoro, the scarecrow village (Kakashi no sato)

The Nagoro district of Higashi-Iya still retains the original Japanese scenery. There are over 300 scarecrows scattered throughout the area, and the sight of them doing farm work or chatting away is heartwarming. There is also a "Scarecrow Village Basic Register" which lists the names and personalities of the scarecrows, and this unique initiative livens up the village.
